The interior design for Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SSE) is composed of two schemes: 80% Basic and 20% Special. 80% Basic has set up a base for the Lobby, the Podium, the Offices and the Club, with a material palette that compliments the architecture. The 20% Special is addressed from Color, SSE Feature, Chineseness and Landscape so as to imprint each particular space unique cultural values and spacial qualities.
This project introduced a deep research based on Shenzhen, stock exchange and Chineseness, especially emphasis on Chineseness. As an example, the meaning of Five Elements (metal, wood, water, fire, soil) were seriously studied in terms of color, property, direction of movement, isometrics, profiles, lighting, position, material matching etc. It is not only an experiment at conceptual level, but also an attempt on applications of space and specific materials.
