This branch store is located at the Expo site underneath the central axis passage, which has been turned into a shopping mall. The plan almost literally adapts to the existing jagged wall conditions. By organising the core functions all along the walls, circulation space is left out in an interesting way. The funky shape is echoed in the ceiling as well, where all directional lighting fixture are installed.
Most furniture are made of plain plywood with exposed profile and clear finish, in contrast with the materiality of metal and terrazzo flooring. The square tiles for the kitchen volume are also designed to be a little more wicked than usual.
The geometries of lighting fixture are extracted from the new Seesaw VI to strengthen the accent at the entry. The shop-front lighting matrix reads like another variation of the plywood profiles, yet each LED section is rotated by 45 degrees so that the facade changes every step one moves.
